Who & What

It would take years and generations to eradicate racism in this world. Many are marrying outside their faith and race. For some it worked out wonderfully with grandchildren playing around their backyards and for some it turned out to be a living hell. But in every relationship regardless interfaith or same faith,if you failed to tolerate and understand each others need,I'm sure its easy for poisonous thoughts to sneak into your shaky marriage.

For days my mother has been pestering me to tell who's the guy behind the reason I'm declining all arrange marriage offers. Today she brought in my brother in law to have a discussion with him. Out of respect I told them that he's the guy from work place, some details of where his parents are and where he is staying now. They asked what's his name. I didn't answer that part. When I said he's staying with aunt's family, they asked what is his aunts name. I didn't answer that part.

And then they asked me " What is he?"

"He's a human being with a pair of eyes, two hands and two legs" I answered

I was lectured for about few minutes on how important it is to know 'What" he is so that they can do some checking on his background. I told them maybe they should meet and talk to him first so that they can know what type of person he is...

So the discussion ended with my mother wiping her tears and me promising to arrange meeting between RJ and my brother in law.

Incoherent Thoughts

Past few weeks had been a ride on the seesaw. One moment I'm so high on life thinking I can achieve almost everything that I desire and the next moment I see myself curled up,unable to free myself from the shackles of torment. My mother sitting on the edge of my bed, crying and begging me to get married to her choice. I have to say No because I have no intention of marrying someone that I don't love and leaving the person I love for the sake of fulfilling my mother's wish. The huge generation gap between me and her is getting wider by the differences in our thoughts and way of life.On the other hand, the love of my life has become a silent punching bag for me to express my anger. Still,he stood by me,whispering encouraging words and sharing a beautiful hope for the future.

Perhaps,I sound like an ungrateful child disobeying my mother and rebutting each of her words. She seems tired of hearing my logic and my untimely dreams. Maybe I can never be the kind of daughter that she dreamed of having.Someday the whole world is going to judge me based on one decision that I intend to make and on that day all the good things I have done in the past will be washed away by the shore, forgotten just  like summer heat during winter. In the end,it reflects their own character, not mine.

Prompt No 17 : A letter to your mum/grandma/child

I'm not close to my grandma and I dont have a child. So, I would choose my mother to write this letter to.

Dear Mom,

How are you doing lately? I overheard you talking to grandma the other day, you explained the reason why you cant visit her in India. You mentioned that you have some obligations here and you cant just leave everything and take the nearest flight back home.

Maybe its time for you to think about yourself. I don't want to see you starting another cycle of parenting with brother's kid. Well you have dedicated your life to us and you deserve to be given a chance to live your own. I dont want you waking up one day with regrets  of not taking the oppurtunity when it came knocking on your door. Let me buy you and dad a flight ticket please...

Love
Your daughter

Prompt No 4 ...The day you left home

The day I left home...

To be honest I never have a chance to fully move away from home. Just to make my mother happy, I applied for the university located in my hometown. I supposed the universe was all my side when I got to know that it was mandatory to stay in hostel during the orientation week as well throughout the first year of studies. I was over the moon, finally a life on my own.  I still remember clearly what happened on the first day I left home.

My mother actually followed me to the hostel room and do you guys want to know what she told my roommate after done interviewing her?

Dear, please take care of my daughter and please do accompany her whenever she goes bathroom.

However, I wasn’t surprised of the statement because I know I can expect this from my beloved mother.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed my life three years in university even though I was always home during weekends to visit my mother. It was precious good old days where I can roam the streets and gaze the stars with my friends at midnight without anyone checking on me.

Well that is my mother; she has her own idea of how the life of her daughter ought to be. As long as I’m lying lazily on the bed and facing laptop all the day, I will be fine because her eyes are watching me and she will be in peace as long I am inside the house with her. Sometimes dinner may actually arrive on bed for me.  :O That’s too much isn’t it..(I ain’t gonna raise my daughter that way :P) .You see, that’s where our thoughts clashes. I believe that this is the time for me of anyone for that matter to explore the world and learn new things.

My mother strongly believes that the world is not a safe place for her daughter. So until she change her mind, (Well I’m trying my best to make her understand), I will continue to lie that I work on weekends and go places to quench the thirst of travelling in me.  My life is confined into a tiny circle and I can’t cross the lines without hurting my mother. Dont get me wrong I love my mother so much and I'm trying as much as I could to make her happy ..Sometimes love makes everything so complicated you see..

Yes, I’m 25 years old and I still live under the comfort of my family mother.

P.S: I wish I can write more on this but my eyes are almost shutting down already.

P.P.S: Please excuse any grammatical error because I'm just to tired to proof read now

Love,as I know it

Perhaps, the greatest joy in life is to be in love and to be loved. In my case I never had a chance to have it both. When I’m in love, I can’t be loved and when I’m being loved, I just can’t be in love. Nevertheless, love knocks many times in my life. Sometimes, it comes through the main door and no doubt I welcomed it with an ear to ear smile. At times, it sneaks in through the back door, giving me a nightmare and trouble my sleep but most of the time love prefers to peek me from outside my window and left as soon as it hears me saying ‘Better luck next time’. Some say it could be lust, some blame it on infatuation and all of its kind, but then what does real love means? Waiting for him to respond for 10 years and still hoping that he will one day? I’ll rather call it optimism than to give it the love badge. Or is it like the one depicted in movies where the hero smack the villain’s head and finally wins out the dream girl of the town? I’ll call it something else. Or it just the testosterone and estrogen playing hide and seek as claimed by the bald professor guy next to me? I have come to a point that I don’t know what love means anymore and to be exact I’m not really sure whether true love still exist or not. But its just too obvious that right now there’s a bunch of Indian mothers sitting cross legged, staring at their finger nails and telling me ‘Let us handle your love story honey, you just have to pick up your wedding gown. Everything else assured’. That freaks me out, but for now let the ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ sign hang on my doorknob a little longer, yeah a little longer.

Perfect Mom + Bad Daughter = Awesome Duo

Differences between me and my mother ==''

Situation #1
Mom-She wakes up at 4.30am, wash all the dishes and prepare lunch for me before 7am

Me- I don’t even bother to wash the lunch box that I bring for my lunch.

Situation #2
Mom-She never fails to call her mother in India at least once a week.

Me-While staying in hostel for three years, I would be too busy to call my mother until my cousin had to remind me how much my mother misses me

Situation #3
Mom- She’s not educated at all but when she talks everybody listens in awe (including the educated ones)

Me-Well I have gotten a degree from a reputable university and when I talked, they laughed
(Coz,somehow it ended as a joke and I laughed along) :/

Situation #4
Mom-she’s a great cook and I am not telling you this just because she’s my mother, she’s really a good one. My relatives will visit just to eat her cooking’s.

Me-Do I need to enlighten more? Read here if you wanna know more :P

Situation #5
Mom-whenever she spots my skin tone changing, she will be so worried and try her best to bring me to my original color, one of the way is by forcing me to drink milk  8|

Me-Everytime she prepares me milk,I will try to find some ways to pour it down the sink 8\

Situation #6
Mom-Home is the place where the heart is,so it should be clean always.( In other ways throw away that junks that you were hiding in your room)

Me-My room is where my soul is,so it shall look as complicated as me,Old junks reminds me a lot of things mom =.=’

Situation #7
Mom-You know how many love marriages ended up in divorce? Today’s youngsters should follow their parents choice, it’s always the best.

Me- Ma,but love is love..How to marry a guy that you never knew before? (I received the above answer every time I talk about a guy)

Situation #8
Mom-What you shop for books again???..stop buying books,we don’t have enough spaces at home, and please for God’s sake, get rid of your old books < o >

Me-Ma,I need books more than food!!!

Situation #9
Mom-She’s a very active person, she could clean the whole house, prepare meals and so on in just few hours.

Me- I’m an active person too,I’ll do things very quickly but everything will end up in a bad shape.Really,I no kidding

Situation #10
Mom-A woman’s beauty is seen in her hair. A long hair makes a woman, woman.

Me-Maaaa..can I just have the haircut at least once??? Pleassssssssseeeeeeeee Ma

There's a lot of differences between me and my mother, the list can just go and on. But yet she’s the one that I love the most in my life. I’m willing to sacrifice anything just to see the smile on her face.Yes, sometimes I feel as though my mother loves me more than I love her…

Hey wait a minute??
Despite all the differences that we have, there’s one similarities that bridges us together

### We have the same cute eyes :)

Lately,I could sense some changes  in my mother, its seems like she’s slowly taking away her hand from mine, maybe she started to realize that some love can be shown even from a distance ..she might not hold my hands and help me to walk anymore, because it seems that it’s quite hard for her to catch up with me,I’m moving very fast I guess but her eyes will never stop from following me.

P.S : It’s true; you’ll only understand a mother’s love when you become one.I hope I’ll be a good mother someday….and I’ll be the coolest one too

P.P.S: We might be two people with different ideologies but yet I love the fact that I came from her and she's a part of me.LOVE you mother :)

She's my mother

Oh my God..I love my mother.she's a perfect lady..The reason behind all this loving words about my mother is because......

Okay, currently I am in my room, checking out some new blogs and busy commenting to their respective posts.and i heard some interesting discussion coming from the living room..At the moment, they are bunch of aunties in my house and they were discussing about my brother's wedding..So the much awaited (multi billion dollar question ) finally popped out.!!!!hmmm..so wat's you gonna ask as dowry????

The world is moving very fast, people are changing their mindsets and nowadays lots of girls are getting a decent education and they are becoming independant too-less depending on guys and having full freedom of deciding their own life!!! but still... people are still asking this kind of questions..especially women (to my dismay)!!!!

but I love the way my mother answered them..she answered ''i have two boys with me but never in my life i will ask for dowry''..Hmmm..im sooo proud of her,oh yes she's someone who's still holding tight to her old beliefs but when it comes to women's right..my mother is a modern thinker..And i love her more because of that..

p.s:love you mom :) and I think my future sister in law is a very lucky girl....

p.p.s: Cant wait for the wedding :):):)
