Incoherent Thoughts

Past few weeks had been a ride on the seesaw. One moment I'm so high on life thinking I can achieve almost everything that I desire and the next moment I see myself curled up,unable to free myself from the shackles of torment. My mother sitting on the edge of my bed, crying and begging me to get married to her choice. I have to say No because I have no intention of marrying someone that I don't love and leaving the person I love for the sake of fulfilling my mother's wish. The huge generation gap between me and her is getting wider by the differences in our thoughts and way of life.On the other hand, the love of my life has become a silent punching bag for me to express my anger. Still,he stood by me,whispering encouraging words and sharing a beautiful hope for the future.

Perhaps,I sound like an ungrateful child disobeying my mother and rebutting each of her words. She seems tired of hearing my logic and my untimely dreams. Maybe I can never be the kind of daughter that she dreamed of having.Someday the whole world is going to judge me based on one decision that I intend to make and on that day all the good things I have done in the past will be washed away by the shore, forgotten just  like summer heat during winter. In the end,it reflects their own character, not mine.

Day Dreams

I'm a day dreamer.Sometimes I would close my eyes, rest my hands below my neck while lying on bed and dream of a better world. I would dream of a spacious house which faces the sea and the natural breeze that follows. I would dream of a small garden where I can grow flowers that never wilt.I would dream of a loving family with smart kids running around playfully. I would dream of a serene place behind the hills of Scotland for me to read and write as much as I want. I would dream of a job in the biggest city in the world that pays me well and make me grow as a person.

I would dream of a never ending sunset and snow flakes hitting on my window pane in June. I would dream of flowers in Wisteria flower tunnel blooming to its fullest regardless on which part of the year I visit them. I would dream of an immortal life and guardian angels to safeguard my love ones.

Too bad, once I open my eyes all the dreams on the sky fall to the ground, shattered into pieces before my arms reach them.

But somehow I couldn't find ways to stop dreaming.

Prompt No 11: Your celebrity dinner party. Who would you invite?

If I’m a celebrity I would like to imagine myself as a writer cum celebrity. (You know someone like J K Rowling:P) Let’s make the dinner party to be a celebration party for the new book release which hit the best sellers list. Everyone who has a taste to appreciate good books is invited for the party. Spare the doubts; you won’t be seeing any hulky guys standing your way and deny the access to this party.

Without further ado, let’s roll down the VIP list. I love all my favorite authors equally. I think each one of them have something that others don’t have. Apart from my favorite orange juice and samosas in the menu list, I would like to see my celebrity dinner party to be a hub for all the writers and struggling writers to join hands and gather in the name of passion for reading and writing.

I would like to tell Khaled Hosseini in person that how much his books had me in tears. I want him to know that I don’t even bother about missing a bus in the middle of the night as I was deported to a different world while reading his books. I want to hold Enid Blyton’s hand and lead her to my room and show her all the pictures of my childhood. I want to tell her how much her books have been the truest companion in my life.

I want to let Edna O’Brien know that one of her book had been the mirror image of me and how I feared that the character’s ending will be the end of my story too. I don’t need to tell anything to Cecelia Ahern as she will understand by the number of her books on my show case. I would like Elizabeth Gilbert to sit beside me and tell me stories of her adventure in foreign lands. I want Orhan Pamuk to tell me what exactly happened in his mind when he decided to write ‘The Museum of Innocence’. I hope he comes with some good reasons to justify his book as it was one of the most difficult books that I have read so far.

Last but not least I would like to invite all of you, my fellow bloggers to my dinner party.  You can read and eat as much as you want.  Each of you will be given my book as a door gift and a memorable experience before you board the flight back to your hometowns. Enjoy your stay and I hope I will do enough justice of playing the host.

Too much of bragging isn't it? Well blame it on the title  :P

That one time you told a huge lie and kinda got away with it {or perhaps you didn’t and that would make an even better blog post! Cringe}

There was a huge organizational change happened back then. Our team was divided into two different business line. My whole new team was actually based on a different branch. Aforementioned company branch actually located quite far away and in order to reach there I have to pass by the bridge. My mom was really freaking out when I informed her about this. She told me if I have to move to a different branch, than I might as well quit my job.

I tried explaining to her many times that I'm having difficulties to work in a situation where I was the only one left out at this branch and I have to move there as it will be convenient for me but all my effort was in vain. Distance wise it might be far but worth the travel. My mother stood firm on her decision and I have decided to move there anyway without telling her anything about it. I used to wake up so early to travel to the other branch and whenever she ask why the trouble going so early to work,I would just say I got a lot of things to do.

It went on just fine for few months till I found out that one of my distance cousin also worked in the same team, By knowing my name,he found out that I am actually his cousin sister. He started to call me 'sister' at office and trust me it was kinda awkward. As I feared, he started to spread the story about me working at this branch to his family members. Some secrets can't be hide forever.  My dad  happened to meet his dad at a funeral. During the casual talk, his dad bring up the topic of me who is working in the same company as his son. My dad, totally clueless about this was dumbfounded and asked me the next day  where exactly I was working. I was shocked but daring enough to say that I'm working at the same branch as this while.(I lied again) The whole day I was feeling guilty about hiding this from my father. That night I sneak in to my dad's room, bent on my knees and confessed that I actually working at that mainland branch and ask him not to tell mother as she will be worried about my safety.

Well, knowing my dad, I guess he told my mother about that but she never confront me about this tilll today.Anyways I'm back to the initial branch, special thanks to my current manager for bringing back to his team.

Thanks for reading..

I guess my writing getting worse day by day

Prompt No 4 ...The day you left home

The day I left home...

To be honest I never have a chance to fully move away from home. Just to make my mother happy, I applied for the university located in my hometown. I supposed the universe was all my side when I got to know that it was mandatory to stay in hostel during the orientation week as well throughout the first year of studies. I was over the moon, finally a life on my own.  I still remember clearly what happened on the first day I left home.

My mother actually followed me to the hostel room and do you guys want to know what she told my roommate after done interviewing her?

Dear, please take care of my daughter and please do accompany her whenever she goes bathroom.

However, I wasn’t surprised of the statement because I know I can expect this from my beloved mother.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed my life three years in university even though I was always home during weekends to visit my mother. It was precious good old days where I can roam the streets and gaze the stars with my friends at midnight without anyone checking on me.

Well that is my mother; she has her own idea of how the life of her daughter ought to be. As long as I’m lying lazily on the bed and facing laptop all the day, I will be fine because her eyes are watching me and she will be in peace as long I am inside the house with her. Sometimes dinner may actually arrive on bed for me.  :O That’s too much isn’t it..(I ain’t gonna raise my daughter that way :P) .You see, that’s where our thoughts clashes. I believe that this is the time for me of anyone for that matter to explore the world and learn new things.

My mother strongly believes that the world is not a safe place for her daughter. So until she change her mind, (Well I’m trying my best to make her understand), I will continue to lie that I work on weekends and go places to quench the thirst of travelling in me.  My life is confined into a tiny circle and I can’t cross the lines without hurting my mother. Dont get me wrong I love my mother so much and I'm trying as much as I could to make her happy ..Sometimes love makes everything so complicated you see..

Yes, I’m 25 years old and I still live under the comfort of my family mother.

P.S: I wish I can write more on this but my eyes are almost shutting down already.

P.P.S: Please excuse any grammatical error because I'm just to tired to proof read now

Time to move out and move on.

My dear readers, let’s do something today. Help me to pack up. It’s time to shift old memories and compact it into a box. Seal it with tapes, make it airtight. They shouldn’t be let out nor should anything else be let it. Grab the photo frames on the dressing table. It’s been haunting me for days. Bring it on all the letters and cards under the bed. They don’t have a place there anymore. Clear all the clothes in the wardrobe, each of them telling me stories about yesterdays. I’m all over it and after all they don’t fit me anymore.

Shut the windows and draw the blinds. Pull over the luggage and clear the pile of dusts on top. I need the luggage to pack up some lovely memories. This house had seen many good things too, can’t bear to leave them behind in a place with no occupants. Lovely memories need me as much as I need them. It’s not fair to push away our good fellows to the back line especially when all the punishment belongs to the wrong guy.

Don’t forget the china set which given by a lovely friend. Reminds me of that special birthday that I had years ago. That old bed sheet smells of something sad. Leave it at the same place, they shouldn’t been drag along to the new bed. Oh my! I really need to be careful when moving out those fragile stuff, they should be handled with care. As for now, I only have them with me.

The contract had been drafted. Lawyers had been hired. All I need is to pen down a signature and the house doesn’t belong to me anymore. Now comes, the last ritual, the most awaited moment. I closed the door and lock it for the last time. With a luggage on my hands and boxes on the track, I bid the final adieu to my old life. Here I am now standing on my doorstep, blowing goodbye kisses to the old keys and threw it away behind those hills. Who needs the old key when the new home is waiting to embrace me with a hug?

Goodbye my old life, you’ll be forgotten but will never be missed. In either ways, you are at loss, not me. I have a new life peeking me from the other sides, convincing me to dream and begging me to move on. I felt wind brushing through my hair. It’s time to leave my past behind, it’s too burdensome to carry it on to the future. Isn’t it better to be safe than sorry?  The past had taught me that some mistakes are too costly to be repeated. Memories is what makes us who we are but when it starts to haunt you, then it is best to be forgotten.

After all, we have only one life, why not live it to the fullest?

A piece of dream

[Tried something different, quite a long post though. You may throw any kind of criticism into the comment box]

Wet clothes hanging on the balcony, I watch them proudly swinging their way in the wind like a careless child that doesn’t care about what lies tomorrow. I felt a tinge of pain on my eyes, wasn’t sure what causes it. Was it the summer haze or the memory of a child running veraciously chasing after the blue kite in the middle of a paddy field? I could hear her laughter, its contagious to the world. It’s been so long, the laughter still rings in my ear. Perhaps it was the latter; that child makes me feel so nostalgic on a Monday morning. It wasn’t a usual Monday morning though. The clock struck 8 am, Soumya was soundly asleep, I could hear her audible snoring. Ah, I bet the world she wouldn’t believe it when I told about her snoring when she wakes up! Tried that before and I failed. Soumya’s alarm buzzed frantically bringing me back to what she told me the day before.

‘Jansi, don’t ever forget to wake me up before you leave tomorrow’ said Soumya while craning her neck under the bed looking for her lost pencil. I chuckled at the thought that it could be near to impossible for her to get back the pencil as it might already swallowed by the ocean of junks that she carefully guarded under her bed all this while.

‘Ahuh..yeah I will but before that, don’t you think all these junks had already been two years old’ I said provided the fact that I’ve been her roommate for more than three years.

‘I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that ’she said.

I knew she will give up on the quest of finding the pencil as soon as she grabbed her blanket to catch a good night sleep. Soumya is always like that, a carefree soul, an antique collector, someone whom I will never trade for anything in the world.

I glanced towards the clock, bringing myself to this moment. I felt as though time is begging me not to be late especially on this auspicious day. I stood and head towards my wardrobe. It’s a peacock blue saree, a graduation gift from Soumya. I watch myself tying it in front of the mirror. I still remember how my mother tied it for me the last time. A red with golden border silk saree, she proudly exclaimed how much it cost and at the same time adoring the resemblance of her in me despite the tears that welled up my eyes.

‘I don’t want all this Ma, I don’t want to get marry.this is what I want Ma’I told her pointing to the offer letter from University of Madras which had been lying on my bed, stained with my tears all over it.

‘You are a woman and you must get married’ she said while handing me a tray of coffee

‘Now go and make yourself worthy’
Worthy! Was that all she wanted from me? Till today I could never forget nor forgive. The day I bowed in front of some strangers, showcasing myself while obeying the rules set by the world.

‘My God,you look gracious Jansi’ Soumya’s voice startled me. She gave me a hug from behind and I quickly stop the tears that’s trickling down my eyes.I forced a wide grin on my face as I watch the excitement drawn on Soumya’s face .She will make up for all, she’ll be my family today. I assured myself.

‘Just give me a second,I’ll drive you to the campus’ Soumya said while heading towards bathroom with a towel on her shoulder.

Back inside the car, I was totally lost in my own thoughts. The ride that I took four years ago had brought me here. That night I decided to run away from home with a luggage of dreams and hope. It was midnight and everyone was soundly asleep after saying a toast to the alliance of me and Rajesh.

The beautiful view outside from the car window couldn’t pull back my wandering thoughts. I’d decided to leave the scenery behind this day. Memories of that moment kept on kicking my mind, stealing me away from the honking sounds and the couple that were fighting in the middle of the road. They had blocked away all the cars. In the meantime, I’m aware of Soumya swearing and throwing fist in the air but all I could hear was dead silence that accompanied me when I walked towards Amma’s bed that awful day. I kissed her forehead while whispering a silent farewell. She doesn’t know when a daughter goes to school; the whole family gets the scroll. Appa was sleeping on the other side, he had been so proud of me for bringing such a fortune to the family. Rajesh is a jackpot to us, I heard him saying to Amma. He raised me up just to bring me so much of disappointment.

Amidst the heavy traffic that overwhelmed the morning road, we reached on time. I saw a father adjusting his son’s tie and I saw a mother in a wheelchair kissing her daughter on the cheek. I saw a life presented in front of me, people from all over the world gathering to witness dreams coming true this day. Soumya wrapped her arms around mine assuring her presence beside me. Even though, she couldn’t make it through this semester but I could see pure happiness on her face as her best friend is the Gold Medal recipient of the year.

A huge applause came toiling behind me while I receive the honourable degree on the stage. I half smiled at Soumya whom had been beaming with pride as she said something to the lady beside her. I could slightly imagine that the conversation must be about me. I walked towards her and park myself on the empty seat to her left.

‘I think it’s time for me to go home, and this time I’m bringing along a piece of dream with me’I whispered to Soumya.

And for that I received the biggest hugs ever from her.

‘Yes,it’s time to go home’she nodded with a smile.

The ceremony took another two hours but all I could see was that child again. She was panting hard while resting her hands on her knees. She had stopped chasing for the kite as for now it had landed directly on her feet. I hear her laughter again, louder and now it brings me a radiant smile.

Dreams do come true with a little bit of running and chasing.

For today, I felt how it really feels to be worthy.

[P.S: In some parts of the world, women are still denied access to a proper education. Hope the world will be more friendlier to all the women out there.]

It's my World!!

My world is silent today,
Hustle and bustle of the city,
Don’t come my way.

My world is out of trouble today,
Stress and pressure,
They are declared holidays.

My world is full of inspiration today
As I sip my favourite coffee,
While sitting by the bay.

My world is full of peace today,
Cherishing the present moment,
As Happy and fun memories replays

My world full of comfort today,
As I sleep from dawn to dusk,
Just to watch the night pass by.

My world is only for me today
No one is allowed.
Oh please, at least for a day!!

P.S : Ever wonder how it feels to live in your own world for one day ...truly escaped from whatever role that you are holding and living the life according to you! So I'm gonna kick away all my worries, sadness and anger and blanket myself with more and more dreams!!!!
